Language and Oral Communication
Language is man’s most effective medium of communication . It allows people to communicate their ideas – to say or write things to each other and express their communicative needs .
Oral Communication is the sound representation of the language and it consists of the speaking and listening processes . In speaking , the process begins with expression of ideas through association with words . Listening on the other hand , begins with expression as heard in context , followed by recall of content through association between expression and ideas . These two processes are simultaneously involved in oral communication .
Communication , which is a two – way process , occurs in an orderly and systematic sequence that involves giving and receiving ideas , feelings , and attitudes between ideas , feelings , and attitudes between two or more persons and it results in a response . In the course of speaking , the persons may exchange their roles of speaker and listener .
