Kinds of Materials in the Library

1. Reference books of a general or specialized nature .
2. Books of fiction .
3. Books of biographies and autobiographies .
4. Books which supplement the college courses such as education , business , foreign languages , history , literature , etc.
5. General books not related to specific subjects and books on special fields not included in the college program of instruction .
6. Magazines and newspapers which include current issues and bound volumes .
7 . Government reports and publications.
8 . Pamphlets and clippings .
9. Audio - visual materials such as pictures , films , plates , slides .
10. Microfilms and microprints which are reduced photographic reproductions of rpinted materials .

The Communication Process

Communication is the art of transmitting information , ideas and attitudes from one person to another by the use of symbols such as words , pictures , figures , and graphs .

Functions of Language

1. It can simply give an information by description , by a statement of facts or recorded data as accurately as words will allow .This is called the referential function of language .
Example:
There are 14 radio stations in Cebu City .
2. It can move or sway the emotions , attitudes and feelings . This is referred to as the emotive function of language ; its purposes may range from the representation of a mood in a lyric poem , to a propaganda piece designed to stir people to anger and hatred.
Example : Support the clean - up drive . Please keep our community clean.
3. It can attempt to influence actions and decisions .
Example :
Banawe Hotel has the intimacy and seclusion of a mountain hideway . Welcome. Stay. And be warned by our hospitality .
